Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

ValueA

FutureA
Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Fitzgerald: A-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Ryan Fitzgerald, the No. 117 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 238.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Robinson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, with Jihaad Campbell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick79
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick126
Rnd4
Kaleb Johnson
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in the 126th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Good price on Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 7, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at pick 148 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick158
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach No. 158 and blink. They did not. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at pick No. 207 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick238
Rnd7
Ryan Fitzgerald
They barely believed it either: Ryan Fitzgerald still on the board at the 238th pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jonas Sanker
The board fumbled Jonas Sanker all the way to slot 250, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
