Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesC FutureA+
The Cardinals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 73 spots for Zion Logue, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

That Phillips pick is the receipt they will wave around later. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 14 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 27th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
A wild overpay on T'Vondre Sweat in pick 39, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick66 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 66th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick71 Rnd3 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at slot 90 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick105 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
They talked themselves into MarShawn Lloyd at Round 4, Pick 5, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick137 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
Good price on Cedric Gray in No. 137, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick188 Rnd6 Zion Logue
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zion Logue. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Andru Phillips
You do not let a cornerback like Andru Phillips reach the 222nd overall pick and blink. They did not. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick224 Rnd7 Christian Jones
Circle this one: Christian Jones at pick No. 224 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
