The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: JD Bertrand, the No. 211 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 31 like a gift left on the doorstep.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Owens has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
