The Commanders let Milroe fall and pounced. Final grade: C+.

The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalen Milroe fell into the 165th overall pick. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

If Jihaad Campbell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
