Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Commanders turned the phones into found money: B+.

The Commanders spent real capital to be 65 picks early on Barryn Sorrell, and the board is going to hold them to it. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

The Hancock pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Pat Surtain II chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick85 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins slipping to pick No. 85 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson slid further than he should have, and the 94th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick111 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in Round 4, Pick 10 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
They will replay Jared Wilson at the 127th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick130 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in pick 130 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
You do not let a safety like Jordan Hancock reach slot 238 and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick250 Rnd7 Barryn Sorrell
Value said wait; Barryn Sorrell in No. 250 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
