Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueA NeedB TradesC+ FutureA+
The Chiefs let Gordon II fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Ollie Gordon II had no business being available in slot 257, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In pick No. 31 they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick66 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
They read the board right and Marcus Mbow was the payoff at the 66th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick114 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Taking Andrew Mukuba in the 114th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick133 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in slot 133 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick226 Rnd7 DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens at Round 7, Pick 10 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in pick 251 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
They barely believed it either: Ollie Gordon II still on the board at the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
