Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The Vikings checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

Reaching for Stackhouse left real value on the table behind him. Paul Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A slide stopped in the 35th overall pick, with Nick Emmanwori worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
A tidy bit of business in the 97th pick, where Chris Paul Jr. graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick103 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Nice patience on Savion Williams, who had no business lasting to pick 103. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
No edge and no loss on Hollin Pierce in No. 134; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139 Rnd5 Brashard Smith
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Brashard Smith. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161 Rnd5 Logan Brown
They let Logan Brown come to them and pounced at slot 161. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tommi Hill in Round 5, Pick 26. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick167 Rnd5 Connor Colby
A reach for Connor Colby in pick No. 167; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick178 Rnd6 CJ West
CJ West at No. 178 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nazir Stackhouse this early at Round 6, Pick 11. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
By-the-book stuff, Caleb Ransaw at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
