Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Gabe Hall a full 43 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Frazier pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, safety and other spots still on the board.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 JC Latham
In pick No. 20 they get a cornerstone up front. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A surprising call. With quarterback, safety and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 2 slot on Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman they were not short of.
Pick84 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ja'Lynn Polk at No. 84 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cam Hart
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at pick 119 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick178 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Value said wait; Gabe Hall in Round 6, Pick 3 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick195 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
