More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Gabe Hall; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 45 spots ahead at the Round 6 slot. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

However the rest shakes out, Rice at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, safety and other spots went begging.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a cornerstone up front. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A curious use of the 51st pick. Quarterback, safety and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Zach Frazier did not.
Pick84 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
They read the board right and Ja'Lynn Polk was the payoff at slot 84. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick98 Rnd3 Andru Phillips
No edge and no loss on Andru Phillips in the 98th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 119 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
They reached into another round for Gabe Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195 Rnd6 Trevin Wallace
They talked themselves into Trevin Wallace at pick 195, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
