Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Robinson from sliding. Grade: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Tayvion Robinson had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. If Fisher pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The Fisher pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 20th pick they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in Round 2, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
The board had Ja'Lynn Polk higher than pick No. 84, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick98 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Blake Fisher, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at the 121st overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick178 Rnd6 Tykee Smith
Steal is underselling it; Tykee Smith at No. 178 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
No edge and no loss on Curtis Jacobs in slot 195; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick209 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
A straight-up fair deal on Caedan Wallace at pick 209, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick254 Rnd7 Tayvion Robinson
Tayvion Robinson at pick No. 254 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
