The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Steelers reached some 55 spots for Trevin Wallace, and value like that does not grow back.

The Vaki value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is not that McCormick is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
