Tuten should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a B. The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 158 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 29 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. With tight end, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Oladejo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 29 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at the 61st pick for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick63
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They let TreVeyon Henderson come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 31. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
A slide stopped in the 66th overall pick, with Azareye'h Thomas worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick101
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
A want over a need in No. 101: Kevin Winston Jr. adds a safety while tight end, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick127
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
A conviction pick on Oluwafemi Oladejo at pick 127 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick148
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick205
Rnd6
Bhayshul Tuten
Steal is underselling it; Bhayshul Tuten at slot 205 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at slot 245 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
