Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B-.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Steelers started one anyway for Jalen Coker, 55 picks ahead of schedule.

However the rest shakes out, Lassiter at that price is a win they earned. The Steelers indulged a want in McCormick while a need in quarterback, safety and other spots stayed open.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In slot 20 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 51st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Kamari Lassiter
They barely believed it either: Kamari Lassiter still on the board at the 84th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick98 Rnd3 Mason McCormick
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mason McCormick adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, safety and other spots untouched.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick178 Rnd6 Khristian Boyd
They took Khristian Boyd at par in Round 6, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jalen Coker
A big swing on Jalen Coker at Round 6, Pick 20, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
