FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B+. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named offensive lineman, a need the Chiefs walked right past. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They banked enough surplus on Ransaw to cover a lot of smaller sins. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In the 31st overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 63. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at pick 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick226
Rnd7
Caleb Ransaw
Nice patience on Caleb Ransaw, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick251
Rnd7
Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks slipping to Round 7, Pick 35 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick257
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in No. 257 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
