Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cowboys a B-.

The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick No. 225 on Keaten Wade a full 75 spots early.

However the rest shakes out, Muhammad at that price is a win they earned. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 12 they get a ballhawk on the back end, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick20 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 20 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick112 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Malik Muhammad in Round 4, Pick 12, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jacob Rodriguez. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick178 Rnd5 Bud Clark
Bud Clark in the 178th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III slid further than he should have, and slot 215 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Da'Shawn Womack
Da'Shawn Womack at pick 221 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick225 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keaten Wade in the Round 7 slot, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
