Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The Bears robbed the room for Sanders. Final grade: B.

Call it larceny. Raheim Sanders sat on the board until pick No. 240, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They are betting Caldwell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In pick No. 14 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
The board had Jihaad Campbell higher than pick 48, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick59 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
They will replay Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 59 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Dylan Sampson in slot 92, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jake Majors
A tidy little value on Jake Majors in the 98th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the 133rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in slot 135 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jabbar Muhammad
Fair-plus on Jabbar Muhammad, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick193 Rnd6 Addison West
Addison West at No. 193 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Value with a capital V on Jonah Monheim in the 232nd pick, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jamaree Caldwell
Jamaree Caldwell at Round 7, Pick 17 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick240 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the 240th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
