Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Ward is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Kalel Mullings, the No. 115 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 245.
The Hinton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In No. 2 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in slot 33 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66
Rnd3
Shemar Stewart
Shemar Stewart in pick 66 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Donovan Jackson at the 102nd overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jack Bech
Jack Bech in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in No. 160, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick218
Rnd7
David Walker
A linebacker of that caliber at the 218th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kalel Mullings
The board fumbled Kalel Mullings all the way to Round 7, Pick 31, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick256
Rnd7
Myles Hinton
Myles Hinton at slot 256 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
