Overall B-

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Bertrand: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. JD Bertrand, the No. 189 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 219. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

If Allen pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. With quarterback and wide receiver unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Bralen Trice
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
They liked Calen Bullock enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 41. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick57 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II in the 57th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 25 with a little surplus value in Mike Sainristil. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick93 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 93rd pick on Tykee Smith with quarterback and wide receiver unsolved.
Pick125 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
They reached into another round for Braelon Allen, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick135 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
No drama and no debate, Ben Sinnott went about where he belonged in pick No. 135. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick167 Rnd5 Curtis Jacobs
They paid a round early for Curtis Jacobs in No. 167, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick203 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
The board fumbled Ethan Driskell all the way to the 203rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick217 Rnd6 Myles Jones
Myles Jones slipping to pick 217 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick219 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
They robbed the room for JD Bertrand here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Ja'Had Carter
Ja'Had Carter at slot 246 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick251 Rnd7 Demorie Tate
They took Demorie Tate at par in the 251st pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
