Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Texans let Rosemy-Jacksaint fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Call it larceny. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint sat on the board until the 238th pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Texans indulged a want in Sainristil while a need in offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots stayed open.

The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In pick 23 they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in pick No. 59 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton at slot 86 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Mike Sainristil at cornerback with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick122 Rnd4 Trey Benson
They robbed the room for Trey Benson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 126. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick224 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens in Round 7, Pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick238 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Taking Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 238th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace is a better player than slot 247 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
