Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bengals reached some 23 spots for Braelon Allen, and value like that does not grow back.

Getting Legette where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the 18th overall pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Somehow Xavier Legette was still sitting there in pick No. 49, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 28 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick115 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Leonard Taylor III in pick 115. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in No. 128 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Taking Kamal Hadden in the 151st pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173 Rnd5 Trey Knox
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Knox at pick 173, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick196 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
No drama and no debate, De'Corian Clark went about where he belonged in pick No. 196. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick238 Rnd7 Mark Perry
Nothing to complain about; Mark Perry went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick254 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
They did well to land Walter Rouse in the 254th pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
