The jury is out on the Cowboys. For now, C+.

Of all the ways to open, the Cowboys chose the head-scratcher, spending Round 1, Pick 20 on Joshua Josephs with quarterback, tight end and other spots still wide open. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Clark to cover a lot of smaller sins. The cost of the Howell reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Hit on Cashius Howell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
