The Patriots torched the value chart for Kain Medrano, taking him 117 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Hampton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
