Nobody else had Mac McWilliams anywhere near No. 144. The Patriots did, by 103 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Patriots indulged a want in Campbell while a need in tight end stayed open.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Campbell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
