The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Dante Trader Jr., taking him 102 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Campbell steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
