The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Kain Medrano, 118 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That Walker pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
