There is reaching, and then there is Kain Medrano at the 232nd overall pick. The Patriots jumped the board by 105 and dared it to prove them wrong. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Egbuka. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
