The Patriots lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Kain Medrano in the 220th overall pick. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

The Tre'Davious White deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
