Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Allar: D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.

A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Reaching for Dunker left real value on the table behind him.

Allar falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Gennings Dunker
In pick 12 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick29 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In the 29th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick53 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at Round 2, Pick 21 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
They jumped the gun on A.J. Haulcy, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick84 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Darrell Jackson Jr. for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They let Nicholas Singleton come to them and pounced at slot 106. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick112 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at pick No. 112 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick153 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in Round 5, Pick 12, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick177 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Nwankpa at No. 177 squarely in line with his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
