Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
The Cowboys let Sanders fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The Cowboys did not so much draft Nick Martin as overpay for him, 31 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Tre Harris
In No. 13 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the 14th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
They did well to land Luther Burden III in pick No. 38, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Nic Scourton
A premium they did not need to pay, Nic Scourton a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick44 Rnd2 DJ Campbell
They took DJ Campbell at par in the 44th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
No edge and no loss on TreVeyon Henderson in the 69th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kyle Kennard
A surprising call. With tight end still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 9 on Kyle Kennard, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick77 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
They talked themselves into Nicholas Singleton at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
Fair-plus on Danny Stutsman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tacario Davis in No. 105. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Alfred Collins
A slide stopped in pick No. 109, with Alfred Collins worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick112 Rnd4 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at pick 112 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick113 Rnd4 Michael Taaffe
Nice patience on Michael Taaffe, who had no business lasting to pick No. 113. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jaxson Dart
Steal is underselling it; Jaxson Dart at slot 151 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in pick 169 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick170 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 5, Pick 32 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick172 Rnd5 Blake Miller
Blake Miller in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick188 Rnd6 Nick Martin
A real head-scratcher, Nick Martin in No. 188 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick209 Rnd6 J.Michael Sturdivant
Nothing to complain about; J.Michael Sturdivant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
