Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Cowboys bet the future on Moore. The board says D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

They have staked the next five years on Dante Moore, which is the only story that really matters here. The Cowboys indulged a want in Haulcy while a need in tight end stayed open. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

The Harbor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Dante Moore
A tidy bit of business in No. 20, where Dante Moore graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick24 Rnd1 Dani Dennis-Sutton
In the 24th pick they get a disruptor off the edge, even if it was a touch early. More want than need.
Pick25 Rnd1 Nyck Harbor
In slot 25 they get a matchup problem out wide, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Dontay Corleone
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dontay Corleone in the 48th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 51 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick58 Rnd2 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in pick 58 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick66 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end to take A.J. Haulcy, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick79 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at Round 3, Pick 15 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89 Rnd3 Nico Iamaleava
They let Nico Iamaleava come to them and pounced at pick No. 89. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Deion Burks
Deion Burks in slot 99 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick108 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
The board had cheaper options than Tacario Davis at the 108th overall pick, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
No drama and no debate, Jaishawn Barham went about where he belonged in pick 114. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick152 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in Round 5, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177 Rnd5 Le'Veon Moss
They took Le'Veon Moss at par in No. 177, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick182 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Good price on Xavier Nwankpa in the 182nd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
