Leavitt should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a B-.

Somebody in the 108th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Sam Leavitt, the No. 83 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Ioane reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

In the 7th overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.

Olaivavega Ioane at Round 2, Pick 8 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

Max Klare at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

They paid a round early for Keith Abney II in No. 77, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick93 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at the 93rd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick108 Rnd4 Sam Leavitt
A quarterback of that caliber at pick No. 108 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kage Casey. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
