Grand theft in Round 6, Pick 4: the Patriots steal Majors and grade out a B+. The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jake Majors fell into Round 6, Pick 4. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The cost of the Dellinger reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Mondon Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In slot 6 they get a blindside protector, reach and all.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slid further than he should have, and pick No. 38 is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick46
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
They paid sticker price for Colston Loveland in Round 2, Pick 14, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They let Dylan Fairchild come to them and pounced at the 69th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77
Rnd3
Jermari Harris
A premium they did not need to pay, Jermari Harris a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick105
Rnd4
Tory Horton
A tidy little value on Tory Horton in No. 105, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Smael Mondon Jr. adds a linebacker and leaves edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick143
Rnd5
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jake Majors
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216
Rnd6
Logan Parr
They went early on Logan Parr in No. 216, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick217
Rnd7
Nick Nash
They reached into another round for Nick Nash, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger in slot 220 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick241
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
By-the-book stuff, Shilo Sanders at pick No. 241 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
