FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Titans and Singleton: D. Thirty-one other rooms let Nicholas Singleton slide, and the Titans were the ones holding the card at pick 212. Highway robbery.
The cost of the Griffith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
A straight-up fair deal on Abdul Carter at slot 6, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick35
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in pick 35 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick37
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
They paid sticker price for Harold Fannin Jr. in the 37th overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
A slide stopped in No. 73, with Alfred Collins worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in pick No. 97 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101
Rnd3
Hollin Pierce
A premium they did not need to pay, Hollin Pierce a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick118
Rnd4
Chris Paul Jr.
They took Chris Paul Jr. at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick130
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
Taking Malachi Moore in Round 4, Pick 29 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick140
Rnd5
Devin Neal
Steal is underselling it; Devin Neal at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in the 142nd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick166
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
You do not let a safety like Lathan Ransom reach slot 166 and blink. They did not. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick176
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dont'e Thornton Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick212
Rnd6
Nicholas Singleton
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at No. 212 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
They barely believed it either: Miles Frazier still on the board at pick 239. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
