FutureA+
The Broncos found their guy under center in Nix: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Broncos shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
They have staked the next five years on Bo Nix, which is the only story that really matters here. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and running back still on the board. They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Restrepo.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In pick No. 24 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick57
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Denzel Burke at Round 2, Pick 25. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick74
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
They took Payton Wilson at par in the 74th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick76
Rnd3
Maason Smith
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman and running back still to address, they spent pick 76 on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick92
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick113
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in slot 122 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick124
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
The board had cheaper options than Beaux Limmer at the 124th pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick151
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in No. 151 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189
Rnd6
Steve Linton
No drama and no debate, Steve Linton went about where he belonged in pick 189. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 13 with a little surplus value in Jabbar Muhammad. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick238
Rnd7
Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at slot 238 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241
Rnd7
Khordae Sydnor
A straight-up fair deal on Khordae Sydnor at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
