Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Shilo Sanders, 64 picks ahead of schedule.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Allar value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Tre Harris
In pick No. 13 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Cameron Williams
Fair-plus on Cameron Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick45 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson in the 45th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
A wild overpay on Ajani Cornelius in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick95 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 31. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick102 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
A slide stopped in the 102nd overall pick, with Danny Stutsman worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick109 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Harold Perkins Jr.. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113 Rnd4 Raheim Sanders
The board had cheaper options than Raheim Sanders at pick No. 113, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick151 Rnd5 Drew Allar
They barely believed it either: Drew Allar still on the board at Round 5, Pick 13. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in the 169th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick170 Rnd5 Shemar Turner
They talked themselves into Shemar Turner at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick172 Rnd5 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at pick 172 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick188 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
No edge and no loss on Antwane Wells Jr. in No. 188; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick209 Rnd6 J.Michael Sturdivant
J.Michael Sturdivant at the 209th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
