The Patriots did not so much draft Kain Medrano as overpay for him, 94 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Put together, it is a D.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
