Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The Raiders did not so much draft Jacob Rodriguez as overpay for him, 62 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Dante Moore is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Dante Moore
In pick 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in Round 2, Pick 1 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
A wild overpay on Austin Siereveld in slot 67, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the 102nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick111 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in pick No. 111 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick136 Rnd4 David Oke
David Oke at the 136th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Good price on Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick 173, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183 Rnd6 Isaiah Jatta
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaiah Jatta this early at pick No. 183. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
They talked themselves into Bryce Foster at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick217 Rnd7 Kalil Alexander
A big swing on Kalil Alexander at Round 7, Pick 2, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
