Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Cowboys bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Trey Moore at the 151st overall pick regardless, 112 picks early. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

The Mondon Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Spending an early pick on safety with cornerback and tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 14 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick26 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 26 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A real need, handled.
Pick45 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick59 Rnd2 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at Round 2, Pick 27 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They reached a country mile for Jake Majors at the 67th overall pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in No. 76 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
A surprising call. With cornerback and tight end still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Kevin Winston Jr., a safety they were not short of.
Pick128 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach the 128th overall pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151 Rnd5 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at pick 151 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick168 Rnd5 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in Round 5, Pick 30 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in slot 170 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171 Rnd5 Tonka Hemingway
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tonka Hemingway this early at pick No. 171. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick190 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at the 190th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
Circle this one: Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 209 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
