The Broncos finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-.

Somebody took the Broncos to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Weaver to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Landing Mayes that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

In the 3rd overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.

Patrick Paul at the 53rd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.

Theo Johnson at pick No. 149 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

J.J. Weaver at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

They liked Zion Logue enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 233. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
