The Broncos got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Broncos did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

The Broncos indulged a want in Smith while a need in linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want.

Reaching for Smith left real value on the table behind him. Getting Thomas where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.
