Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
Grand theft in the 170th pick: the Commanders steal Thomas and grade out a B. Thirty-one other rooms let Azareye'h Thomas slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at the Round 5 slot. Highway robbery. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In pick 30 they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot.
Pick67
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They let TreVeyon Henderson come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 3. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
A conviction pick on Aeneas Peebles at the 128th pick that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Ty Robinson
They talked themselves into Ty Robinson at pick No. 132, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Azareye'h Thomas
You do not let a cornerback like Azareye'h Thomas reach No. 170 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They robbed the room for Logan Brown here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jackson Slater
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick179
Rnd6
Clay Webb
A reach for Clay Webb in slot 179; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaydon Blue
The board fumbled Jaydon Blue all the way to slot 205, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
A straight-up fair deal on LaJohntay Wester at pick No. 245, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
