Draft Grade — Broncos

FutureA+
The Broncos bled value on every deal, hence the D+. The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Rogers pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. However the rest shakes out, Jurkovec at that price is a win they earned.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 21st pick they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in pick 76 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade in slot 113 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick121
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Eboigbe. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149
Rnd5
Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers at No. 149 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick165
Rnd5
Chau Smith-Wade
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 29 with a little surplus value in Chau Smith-Wade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick182
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at pick No. 182 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233
Rnd7
Zakhari Franklin
Zakhari Franklin in No. 233 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jeremy James
By-the-book stuff, Jeremy James at Round 7, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick242
Rnd7
Phil Jurkovec
The board had Phil Jurkovec higher than the 242nd overall pick, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick249
Rnd7
Demorie Tate
No edge and no loss on Demorie Tate in pick No. 249; it is a wash and a sensible one. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
