The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

Every board in the league had Tupuola-Fetui lower, and that gap is the story. J.J. McCarthy gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.

Smith-Wade at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Broncos clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
