The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Jack Kiser, the No. 198 name on the board, sitting there at pick 232 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
