You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Nick Martin in Round 5, Pick 38.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Collins falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
