Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
A-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Broncos finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-. The search is over. The Broncos handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The Holker pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Wiley has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 15 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick19
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
They barely believed it either: Xavier Legette still on the board at slot 76. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81
Rnd3
DJ James
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, DJ James in the 81st overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson in Round 3, Pick 18 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick96
Rnd3
MarShawn Lloyd
No drama and no debate, MarShawn Lloyd went about where he belonged in No. 96. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They took Javon Foster at par in the 117th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick121
Rnd4
James Williams
No edge and no loss on James Williams in pick 121; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick136
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at slot 136 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick145
Rnd5
Christian Jones
A quiet steal in the 145th overall pick: Christian Jones for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Marcus Harris
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marcus Harris. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at the 151st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203
Rnd6
Fabien Lovett
Fabien Lovett at pick No. 203 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick207
Rnd6
Dallin Holker
The board fumbled Dallin Holker all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick224
Rnd7
Michael Barrett
A reach for Michael Barrett in pick 224; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
