Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kaleb Johnson got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at Round 3, Pick 11. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will need Watson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
