Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills let Skattebo fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Cam Skattebo, the No. 100 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 169.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kenneth Grant in Round 1, Pick 30. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56
Rnd2
Trey Amos
A tidy little value on Trey Amos in No. 56, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick62
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
A quiet steal in pick 62: Xavier Watts for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick109
Rnd4
Isaiah Bond
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Bond in slot 109, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick132
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the 169th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Circle this one: Logan Brown at the 170th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
They robbed the room for Tyler Shough here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at pick 177 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
The board fumbled Dorian Strong all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
