Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D-, for the Bears.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick5 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In slot 5 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Graham Barton
By-the-book stuff, Graham Barton at Round 2, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick69 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
A tidy little value on Ruke Orhorhoro in the 69th pick, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Princely Umanmielen
Nothing to complain about; Princely Umanmielen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick105 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in pick 105 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jamari Thrash
They paid sticker price for Jamari Thrash in No. 132, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
