Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Bills won the night they stopped Walker from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jalon Walker tumbling to the Bills in slot 62 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball. Their trades came out a wash either way.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 5, where Emeka Egbuka graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 56th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in slot 62, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
A slide stopped in pick 68, with Alfred Collins worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Good price on Cody Simon in pick No. 132, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mello Dotson at No. 143. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
A straight-up fair deal on Ollie Gordon II at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick173 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
No edge and no loss on Quincy Riley in the 173rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick177 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
They took JJ Pegues at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
They did well to land Jason Marshall Jr. in slot 206, just ahead of his grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
